The pace at which the world is expanding, it is with time, the educational scenario, especially the schools, needs to undergo a transition that brings about the required changes in the growth of students. Education is core to an individual’s development. And academics happen to be the dominating factor of that very core. Academics is perceived as a classroom setting bound within four walls. No wonder it is essential to educate students, feeding them with knowledge covering a wide range. However, academics alone cannot fetch a child the overall development that he or she might require for adequate growth. Growth should not be one-dimensional but multi-dimensional in nature.

The very aspect of multi-dimensional development stands in tune with the holistic approach to development. It is only achievable when students are pushed beyond the classroom setting and are made to explore the world of activities surrounding them. Therein comes the picture of co-curricular activities,  particularly designed to address various facets of development in a student and boost them accordingly. They are meant to ignite social skills, intellectual skills, moral values, personality progress and character appeal in students. The activities include athletics, cultural events, Library activities, science lab activities, classroom activities, creative arts and meditation and many more.

Children are molded accordingly to bring out the best in them. And childhood is such a phase that can be utilized to lay down the foundation of their development. Hence, introducing them to co-curricular activities will have them figure out their abilities steadily. In a nutshell, exposing them to activities will ignite their skill-building power.

Moreover, with time, we are witnessing how students find their interest and passion at a young age with the exposure they receive apart from their academics. Many kids do not fare well at school and are discouraged throughout for not having good grades. Not faring well in academics does not make them any less. If not academics, they find their opportunities through the extra activities they establish a connection with. In that way, extra-curricular activities help students find their inclination toward their interests by preparing them in the best manner. They find options to experiment with themselves and eventually get their true calling.

Hence, co-curricular activities have a major role to play in shaping bright minds. Proper integration of academics and co-curricular activities is the key to pursuing holistic development, which will eventually bring out the best in every child.
